Stories of our Rescued Equines

Daisy
Although this rescue wasn't handled by our club, it was the inspiration for the reformation of our Equine Rescue Program to help local equines. Joe & Deanna Powell are fostering this horse in hopes of adopting her to give her a better quality of life.
  • Daisy is a 20+ year old Belgian mare who was nearly 800lbs underweight when she came off the transport from South Dakota.  She arrived with sores, severe dehydration, and mal-nutrician.  She was represented to the Powell's by the rescue ranch as 8-10 years old and in good health.  Only two days after arrival, the rescue ranch insisted that either they outright adopt her or send her back.  The adoption fee is $1390.  The Powell's hope is that the community will provide enough support to allow this equine to live out the remainder of her life in peace.  Based on a local veternarian and other experienced equine handlers in the area, it is believed that she may not make the trip back.
  • If you would like to offer your support directly, please contact Joe & Deanna Powell at (541) 761-5955.
Unknown Horse
This horse comes to us from Cave Junction were she was left unattended to wander for 3-4 months.  Animal Control referred her to us.  We are interested to find her owner, or if we are unsuccessful, adopt her out within the law.
  • More information will be published as soon as applicable.
  • UPDATE - The horse's owner was located and the horse returned!
